Sunday Celebration 30 August
During the relaxed worship this morning, we heard about happy memories from school days and found out that some of us liked: horse riding and management; trampolining; singing; learning the recorder and piano; having trips abroad and getting muddy in assault courses!
Schools are places of learning and all of us learn about God through Jesus, who is the light of the world.
We listened to “My Lighthouse” www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaW_4MWSE6I&t=89s
and joined in the actions, during the chorus, before praying for the new term and signing the Lord’s Prayer, as we said it together.
Children’s bags will be packed soon, ready for school. Having some Bible texts that are quite easy to commit to memory will remind the children that they are loved, cherished and protected by God, just as if they packed them in their school bag!
Here’s the list of "Backpack Scriptures" for the first 9 mornings of the new term:
I can do all things through Him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:14 Do for others just what you want them to do for you. Luke 6:31 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people. Colossians 3:23 Cast all your cares on Him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 When I am afraid, I put my trust in You. Psalm 56:3 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
Change of venue and time - next Sunday we will meet outside St Petroc's Church at 11.30am to go on a short walk in search of ancient wells and then picnic in Priory Park - bring your own packed lunch and picnic blanket!
