Creative Caring
Time and donations were crucial to the success of the coffee morning that took place yesterday. The annual event for The Leprosy Mission is run by Bodmin Team Ministry’s Mission Focus group.
Creative ways made giving easier, from name the teddy (it’s now been revealed the bear’s name is Priscilla), fabulous raffle prizes, hand-crafted cards, craft and book stalls to home-made savouries and cakes, as well as hot drinks and biscuits.
Leprosymission.org.uk explains that every two minutes, someone is diagnosed with leprosy. That's more than 200,000 new cases a year. Although it is curable, millions of people worldwide are living with the effects of the disease, from physical disability to mental health problems, poverty and discrimination.
Marion Lowe, Focus Mission group coordinator, said: “The atmosphere was vibrant throughout and we received a lot of very positive feedback. We’re grateful to Bodmin Methodist Church for their hospitality and support.”
This one event raised £302 to support the work of The Leprosy Mission.
